Import opportunities
Bring opportunities from your old CRM or a spreadsheet into the right pipeline and stage with a CSV file.
3 min read
When you move to Squaremeters, you don't have to retype the buyer, seller and tenant enquiries you've kept in spreadsheets or an old system for years. With one CSV file you can bring hundreds of opportunities into the right pipeline and stage in one go.
Before you start
- The first bulk import is usually done by the Squaremeters team during setup. For lists you want to add afterwards, follow this article or send the file to your consultant.
- The target pipeline and stages must already exist. See Create a pipeline.
- If the contacts aren't in the panel yet, the Contacts + Opportunities option creates the contact and the opportunity together. For contacts only, see Import contacts.
- The file must be in CSV format.
Important
The people you import must have received a KVKK privacy notice. If you plan to have the assistant call them, İYS consent is required as well. See İYS and KVKK.
Prepare the CSV file
| Column | Required? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Name, phone | Yes* | *With Contacts + Opportunities, used to create or match the contact. If the contacts already exist, a Contact ID can be used. |
| Opportunity Name | Yes | For example Ahmet Demir – Moda 3+1 |
| Pipeline | Yes | Exactly the same as the pipeline name in the panel: Buyers. |
| Pipeline Stage | No | Exactly the same as the stage name: Viewing done. |
| Opportunity Value | No | Digits only: 290000 (no ₺, dots or commas). |
| Status | No | open, won, lost or abandoned. |
| Opportunity ID | When updating | Needed to update existing opportunities. |
Heads up
Small differences in pipeline and stage names (an extra space, "Valuation Booked" instead of "Valuation booked") mean opportunities land in the wrong place or aren't imported at all. Copy the names from the panel and paste them.
Import steps
- On the Opportunities screen, click Import at the top right.
- Choose the import type: Opportunities if the contacts already exist, Contacts + Opportunities if they should be created too.
- Drag and drop your CSV file or choose it.
- Click Next.
- Choose whether to create new opportunities or update existing ones.
- Map each CSV column to the matching field in the panel. Pick Don't import for columns you don't want. Custom fields such as "Area" and "Budget" are in the list too.
- When updating, keep Don't update Empty Values on, so empty cells in the CSV don't wipe information in the panel.
- Review the mapping and start the import.
The import runs in the background. When it finishes, the opportunities appear in the pipeline you chose; any failed rows are listed on the results screen.
Tip
Import a 5–10 row test file first. Once you've checked the cards land in the right stage with the right value, upload the full file.
Example
Your office keeps buyers in a spreadsheet; the "Status" column says things like "shown round", "made an offer", "bought", "dropped out". Map them to stages before importing:
- "shown round" →
Viewing done - "made an offer" →
Offer - "bought" →
Completed+ Statuswon - "dropped out" → Status
lost
Use find and replace to tidy the column, save as CSV UTF-8 and follow the steps above.
Troubleshooting
Turkish characters look broken. Save the file as CSV UTF-8.
Opportunities were created but the stage is empty. The stage name doesn't match the panel. Check the names and import again in update mode.
Values show ₺0. The value column may contain a currency symbol or thousands separator. Use digits only: 290000.
